Dear Sir or Madame,

I?m deeply disappointed with the news of legalizing again the killing of stray animals in Romania. It was a step in the right direction when you passed the law to protect those animals on 15th of January, 2008. As an EU member state you have to meet certain political and moral commitments. If you change the law in force that protects stray animals and allow hence the brutal murders of thousands of animals you do not discharge your duties at all.. This action only shows that you can?t deal with this challenge and that you act very short-sighted. You ride roughshod over the years of work of committed animal conservationists and show thus that you do not value genuine help.

You will not get the problem of the huge number of abandoned animals under control by killing them. This solution of the problem would only be of limited duration. You can only control the population and make a lasting improvement by castrating those animals.

Taxpayers? money should not be used to kill animals in the most brutal way. This would not only be a big moral crime, it would also be an unnecessary waste. Use the money to castrate the animals and to teach and inform your population. An educated population helps to decimate the number of stray dogs, too. You do neither impart moral values by exterminating those animals nor show any empathy for a living thing that feels. Thus you just foster the brutality of the population and you show that one needn?t have any respect for the life of an animal.

You are requested to leave the law that protects the animals at that and to omit the barbarous killing of stray animals. Make a lasting improvement of the situation. Support the societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals with the castration of the animals and educate the Romanian population to catch up with the moral values and duties of the other EU member states.

Gentile Signore, Gentile Signora,

Sono profondamente deluso/a dall'aver appreso la notizia secondo la quale sarà di nuovo legale uccidere i cani randagi in Romania. La legge del 15/1/2008 per la protezione di questi animali é stata un passo in avanti. Ora, in quanto Stato membro dell'Unione Europea, La Romania é tenuta a rispettare certe regole politiche e morali.
Se la legge a protezione dei randagi volge invece al massacro legalizzato di questi ultimi non risolve affatto il problema...Questo tipo di azioni mostra soltanto l'incapacità ad affrontare una tale sfida. Per anni vi siete avvalsi dell'apporto delle associazioni animaliste e dei volontari, ed ora un tale cambiamento di rotta varrebbe a dire che non meritavate cotanti aiuti.

Non é con la soppressione indiscriminata che si risolve il problema del randagismo. Sarebbe una soluzione dalla durata molto limitata. Si puo' invece controllare la popolazione di randagi mediante la sterilizzazione.

Contribuenti, il denaro non andrebbe usato per uccidere gli animali con tale brutalità. Non solo questo sarebbe un crimine dal punto di vista etico e morale, ma anche un enorme (e inutile) spreco di denaro. Utilizzate invece quel denaro per sterilizzare i randagi e per informare ed educare i cittadini. Un popolo informato é garanzia di riduzione del randagismo. Promuovendo l'uccisione sistematica dei randagi non impartite nessun valore ai cittadini né mostrate un minimo di sensibilità per degli esseri viventi che soffrono. Al contrario, date l'idea di essere un popolo brutale che non ha nessun rispetto per la vita di un animale.

Chiediamo che la legge a protezione degli animali resti in vigore e che si abbandoni ogni proposito di uccisione dei randagi.
Cercate di fare un ulteriore passo in avanti. Supportate le associazioni che fanno prevenzione, promuovendo la sterilizzazione ed educate il popolo rumeno ad uniformarsi ai valori morali e agli obblighi propri di tutti gli Stati membri dell'UE.

Dimostrate sensibilità e ragionevolezza.
